Two moments decide the front desk’s day. At 3 PM: who has not confirmed for tomorrow, and how many of those are worth $1,000 or more. At 5:30: does the money in the drawer match the ledger, and did anyone adjust something after the fact. One screen for each.

What does the Front Desk screen show?

Five tiles: Unconfirmed tomorrow, Appointments in the next 7 days, Confirmation rate (green at 80% or above), Left message, Unconfirmed. Below them, confirmations by day for the week, and patients with a missed appointment by month. The table lists patient, time, provider, type, status and scheduled production, so the $1,100 root canal that nobody has reached is at the top of the call list.

On Dentrix, older months of the missed chart are a lower bound: only each patient’s latest miss is kept.

What does the End of Day screen show?

Five numbers for the date: Deposit, Production, Patient payments, Insurance payments, Adjustments. Then each by type: payments by method, insurance payments split check and EFT, adjustments by type including write-offs, production by provider. Hover the deposit and it splits into patient and insurance, then into lines with counts.

Production is gross. A field the practice software does not send reads “Not available from your practice system”. Compare the screen with your own closing sheet for the first week; on a day with voided entries the two can differ by exactly those entries, and the ledger view shows which ones.

What does it read from my practice software?

Read-only. On Open Dental: appointment for status and confirmation, histappointment for broken and missed history, payment, paysplit, claimpayment, adjustment and procedurelog for the close. On Dentrix: admin.v_appointment, admin.appthist, admin.payment_view, admin.inspayment_view, admin.adjustment_view, with admin.v_payment_types and admin.v_adjustment_types for the names, and admin.v_proclog. On Eaglesoft: appointment with its arrival_time, inchair_time and walkout_time columns, transactions_header with paytype, and eod.

Is it live on my system?

Front Desk is LIVE on Open Dental and Dentrix and BETA on Eaglesoft, where statuses are derived from times. End of Day is LIVE on Open Dental and Dentrix and BETA on Eaglesoft, where money is posted on its ledger date. If your practice software holds no confirmation status at all, the screen says confirmations are unavailable rather than showing a rate.

What it does not do

It does not send reminders or a confirmation blast; texting is ROADMAP and marked coming. It does not write a confirmation back to the schedule. It never posts a payment or an adjustment. Reminder, call and forms analytics, bank deposit matching, and adjustments by user and workstation are ROADMAP.

Next step

Put your unconfirmed count into the no-show cost calculator. The Daily Huddle covers the morning, and the end of day report guide lists what to reconcile before you lock the door.

Questions people ask

Does the End of Day screen match my day sheet?

Compare the two during onboarding. Production is gross, before write-offs, and the tile says so. A figure your practice software does not send reads Not available, never $0.

Why do Eaglesoft appointment statuses look different?

Eaglesoft stores times rather than a status word: arrival, in chair and walkout. Calibic derives Confirmed, Arrived, Seated and Completed from which of those is set.
